Devlog #5: Balancing AAA Dreams and Indie Passion
I can finally share something I’ve been quietly proud of for a while now:
I’m working on the Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis!
(I worked on this vista!!!)
I’ve been working professionally in game development as a level artist / level designer for 14 years, and alongside that I’ve always created personal projects after hours, usually as a form of creative escape. Those side projects were always very different from what I do at work, a way to explore ideas and moods I wouldn’t normally touch in a large production environment.
One of those projects is Esothe.

For a long time, it was my answer to a simple dream:
What if I could make something that feels like the games that made me want to do this in the first place?
Games like old Tomb Raiders, Ico, Legend of Zelda - exploration, ancient ruins, mystery, puzzles, a sense of place that tells its own story.
And now, in a way I never expected, that dream has come true.
I’ve been working on TR:LoA since the very beginning of its development, which is also why progress on full version of Esothe has been slow. Balancing a full-time AAA project with a solo indie game built after hours is not easy, but it’s a trade I’m grateful for.
I hope that when you eventually play the next Tomb Raider, you’ll feel the passion and hard work of an incredible team of people, each bringing their own piece to the game. As part of that effort, I’m trying to capture on my small piece an atmosphere similar to what I explore in Esothe. Different worlds, different scales, but born from the same passion for exploration of forgotten places.
Esothe will of course be released after the TR:LoA, but I’ll keep sharing progress along the way.
Thank you for following this long journey. See you in the next development update!
