PATHRALLAX post jam update

I really appreciate everyone who tried out my game. This was my first time joining a game jam on Itch.io, and my entry ended up taking 7th place in the innovation category. There were plenty of amazing takes on the theme, and it was inspiring to see what others created.

While the voting was ongoing, I worked on an update and tried to implement many of the suggestions you left in the comments. Here’s the list of changes:

  • Added a mouse/aim sensitivity option (default set to 0.8), which makes controls feel much smoother compared to the original game jam build.
  • Added a main menu and a short intro sequence.
  • Rebuilt the starting area, introduced a tutorial with simple puzzles, made some small tweaks to later puzzles, and added four brand-new ones featuring a sneak peek of a new mechanic: the dot connector.

  • Optimized the game for low graphics settings.
  • Added checkpoints.
  • Added partial controller support (works everywhere except in the menu). For comfortable play, I recommend setting aim sensitivity to 0.4 or lower.
  • Introduced a cat that follows the glowing dot. This is an experimental feature and may be buggy (just like a real cat). It can be disabled in the options, but I already have ideas on how to incorporate it into the puzzles. The cat doesn’t make the game significantly harder since it can’t extinguish the glowing dot… at least for now.

Special thanks for Fraszka (Trifle in english) for the inspiration.

Have fun!

That's a cute cat! Congrats on 7th place and impressive that you had the power to update the game this quickly, I'm still feeling a bit burned out from the jam. Participating was as amazing and fun as it was exhausting. 😄
